National Disabled Pets Day, was founded by animal behaviorist Colleen Paige, founder of the Animal Miracle Network and holidays such as National Dog Day and National Cat Day. Colleen created this day to bring public awareness to the plight of disabled, special needs and geriatric pets in shelters and sanctuaries nationwide that are awaiting forever homes. It is also a day she hopes will draw attention to the organizations that care for these pets and she encourages people to donate or volunteer their time to help.

"I wanted to create a day that would ultimately find homes for all the special needs pets out there, of which there are so many, Paige say's. I've shared my life with two special needs/disabled pets and it's important to educate the public about the different kinds of disabilities pets can have and the care involved. By offering love and companionship to a disabled pet, you will see that they have just as much love and friendship to offer as abled pets do."

This will be a "dogs only" event and is sure to be the largest gathering of disabled dogs in history! Please check back for more details. Sponsor, vendor, or press inquiries, please call 360-297-7886 or email us here.
